Can cold sores spread by kissing someone on the cheek or forehead?!

Question: My boyfriend has cold sores from time to time and I've never had one. So far, he's always avoided kissing me near the mouth but has kept kissing me on the cheek and forehead and elsewhere, typically pulling the affected corner of his mouth away to avoid contact with my skin, but that's never error free of course.

Can his kisses on my cheeks and my kisses on his cheeks, far away enough from his mouth, cause his virus spread to me? He's quite good about hygiene. So far, it's never happened, but I'm pregnant now and am extra cautious because the immune system is weaker during pregnancy.

First of all, considering that you are pregnant, I would suggest that you go get tested to see if you actually have the virus. 80% of the population have been exposed to the virus, but never develop any symptoms!

The good news is, if you do have the virus kissing him wont make any difference, as you are the lucky majority that never display any symptoms.

If not, you becoming in contact with this virus is almost inevitable, it came be passed even if the carrier is not displaying any visible symptoms, and this is known as shedding. But in the meantime while you pregnant it is a good idea to practice good hygiene, because if by chance you do develop symptoms, your first outbreak can cause a nasty fever, which isn't very pleasant.

But please remember less then 20% develop symptoms and it is very likely that you may have already been exposed to the virus.

Regarding your boyfriends outbreaks, I'm busy documenting my success with a supplement called BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoleune). It is an antioxidant mainly used to preserve oils such as margarine, but is extremely effective at preventng cold sores & herpes outbreaks.

It works by breaking down the viruses lipid coating, this coating is used to protect the virus from the immune system. Breaking down this protective layer allows the immune system to attack and destroy the virus, preventing outbreaks.

You can read more about this in detail on my blog:

Best of luck with the pregnancy! :)

Dont kiss him then. Tell him you want to do the best for your baby.
