If person is not immune compromised than NO...people do not die from the common cold!!!. Common cold is caused by the rhinovirus. Influenza on the other hand can and has killed people. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying to you or really does not know what they are talking about.

yes, if you dont treat the actual symptoms within a certain time, a major infection can be caused, and without the correct treatment, it can lead to death. People can die from just a common cold, but the actual occurence is very rare
No and Yes If you have a healthy immune system your good to go but if you have other underlying issues, catching the common cold could be deathly. That common cold germ could kickstart anything within your system!
Usually people die after colds only when the cold progresses into pneumonia or a sinus infection that remains untreated and infects the brain.
Otherwise healthy individuals should have nothing to worry about and should rest, drink plenty of fluids and stay warm. If fever at 101 degrees or greater develops or symptoms get worse and last for over a week, you should probably see a doctor.
Only when one's immune system is compromised or underdeveloped. I know of people infected with HIV who've come down with colds which progressed to having pneumonia. A healthy individual has a difficult time bouncing back from that diagnosis; someone with AIDS is seriously at risk.
Older people and very young children have problems because their immune systems are either struggling to work it out or are not sophisticated enough to deal with the different strains of the virus (there are HUNDREDS out there!).

Yes, when their cold cannot be cured like if their immune system cannot fight it. Then you die.
If colds last for a prolonged time they can develop into something much more serious....bronchitis, pneumonia, etc...
