How bad does accutane make your skin after being in the sun?!

Question: I'm going to aruba in a few months plus summer is coming up. I am still debating whether to get on accutane or hold off until after the trip and summer. I have suffered from acne for the last 8 years and i want to get rid of it. I've been on a lot of different meds. Im currently on tetracycline and some creams. It doesn't help me much. I've only been on it for a month though but im unconvinced it willl help. Anyway i just need some advice on whether i should start now or wait and if there are any good alternative medicinds i could take if i delay accutane. And also how bad is it in the sun. sorry this is long. thank you

I have completed a session of accutane, and let me tell you, it's a great cure to acne. I took it for 9 months and I haven't seen even a hint of acne since (3 years). But one thing accutane does do during the treatment is dry out your skin beyond belief, making it very susceptible to the sun. So my advice would be to DEFINITELY hold off on accutane until after your trip, or else your face will be burnt and you will be very uncomfortable, and I'm guessing that's not how you're going to want to spend your vacation. =] Oh, and also, just a hint, find a gentle face moisturizer when you go on accutane, or else your face will dry up really bad. The moisturizer helps your skin to stop from flaking from being too dry. =]

Good luck! and have fun!

are you fair skin if so dont take you will burn bad it will also highlight your old scars so good luck

i found that tanning is somewhat good for acne
like it dries it out.

but doesnt work all the time

It's best to avoid the sun while on accutane.

If it can't be avoided, be sure to use plenty of high-spf sunblock.

Well I can tell you you will not want the sun because in another month you will get very dry and sensitive skin. But it is up to you once you finish treatment you will be very happy.
