Smokers lungs...?!


Question: i quit smoking 2 weeks ago and coping alright ive just replaced it with excercise my problem is it takes me about 30 mins to jog 3 miles lol is that bad? i was only a smoker for about 2 years

You can only be congratulated for many things.

You quit smoking. On a scale of 10, that is high marks.
You took up exercise. Great. You have done something about your craving kiddo...!.That's commendable.

As for the rest? They are just numbers. I would not worry about it. As you keep at it, things will progress well and beyond your expectation.

2 years is not long to worry about smokers' lungs - even if you were 2-pack a day person. You will get back to your pink of health in a few months. I would not worry about it too much.

So, keep up the good work. Congrats, once again.......!!

Considering on average that you can walk 2 miles in the same time it is bad. BUT, it takes time to clear the lungs out, and the more you exercise the faster you will become and fitter.

It will take awhile for your lungs to clean themselves out. Just keep doing what your doing and stay away from cigs and second hand smoke.

That's bad but you only stopped smoking 2 weeks ago so don't expect miricles. Your lungs will take a long time to get rid of all the stuff from the smoking that is in your lungs and breathing passages. The combination of building up your stamina and clearing your lungs will make it easier to run the 3 miles and to run them quicker. Good luck with giving up completely:-)
