What's your heart rate?!

Question: Mine is 47 and I'm pretty sure that means I should be dead, right? I've been training pretty hard, but still.......fourty-seven? Does anyone else have this? And if you know, I need to see a cardiologist, yes?

Nah, you're in good shape. Mine is 50 and I am a long way from dead. I hope

That is a low heart rate, however many factors come into play... you say you've been training.. are you a long distance runner/biker? A lot of people who are in really good shape have a normally low heart rate and that is alright. It also depends on your age and weight too. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about going to see a cardiologist. If you are very concerned, start with seeing your primary care doctor first.

If you are an athlete, and you do not have any cardiac symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest pain or fatigue, then you absolutely can have a HR of 47 and be fine.

anything below 60 is called bradycardia (low heart rate). do you take any medications for your heart? some may be the cause of a low heart rate. you should not be dead with a heart rate of 47 though! its low, but its enough to perfuse your body with blood and oxygen. but if it is continually this low or if it goes below 40 i would be of greater concern. check your blood pressure too.
