Cracked corner of mouth on one side?!

Question: I'm not sure if it's a fever blister or not. It looks like its really chapped with a big crack. I've been applying fever blister medicine to it and it gets almost well.. and I yawn to wide or something and it cracks back open. It's painful and kinda gross considering it looks chapped all around it. My lips aren't chapped and the other corner is fine. Its been here for a few weeks! HELP?! Should I see a doctor?

I had this issue several years ago....i went to the doc and she said it was a fungal infection/situation due to excess licking then me putting on lip balm--it trapped the moisture in and caused a fungal deal...so--the prescription was an over the counter antifungal cream used to treat athlete's foot--Clotrimazole Cream--i know it sounds gross but it worked. and it made sense, too. so, after i healed that (didn't take long) i did some research on lip balms (i was constantly applying mine) and found that Chapsticks Overnight lip treatment is the best...it has dimenthicone vs the other ingredients in most lip balms that were said to be more drying in the long run.... i have not gotten back that fungal thiing since. hope this helps. good luck!!

No- this might just be a bit of chapping.
I know you said you dont have chapping but
if you are sleeping and this is the corner of the mouth
closest to the pillow (depending which way your head is facing),
then it may just be the drying out of the lip skin due to your saliva.
It can conglomerate when you sleep and dry out just that little area. So if you lick it it will get worse.
I get this a lot, and this is the only thing I can think of that causes it.

I would put some vaseline on it because it might just be severly, or maybe some Polysporin (the godsend) if it looks infected.
If it doesnt start to clear up in a few days, see a doctor.
