Hold your nose and blow out. Your ears will pop right open.

same here. i held my nose and blew really hard and that worked for a little bit. hope u feel better.

Jam a sharpened pencil into them

chew on chewy things. if that does not help wait for some more days. It will go away.

You can permanently damage them by following the above advice. There are solvents that you can use (let them work overnight then clean in the morning with cotton wool). Still a problem after several days see your doc.

hi there..

there is this ear exercise that my EENT told me.. i hope it works for you.. it made my ears unpop..

close your eyes. close your mouth. breathe deep. pinch your nose and try to breathe with your ears. air must not come out your nose, mouth or eyes, only from the ears. try to do this for 5 times everyday.

actually, i failed to be consistent in it before but i'm trying to do it again now. i trust my doctor, anyway.

i dunno if i would be of help.. but it did help me.. maybe if you are unsure with my advice, you can always call the doctor.

take care.

Absolutely DO NOT jam ANYTHING into your ears (except maybe a Q-Tip, but don't JAM it in), because you stand a great chance a damaging - possibly permanently - your inner ear(s) if you do. You may have an excess amount of wax built up that only a doctor can remove; that's what happens to me every six months or so. I suggest seeing your doctor and asking him/her the best way to proceed. Good luck.

The answers regarding jamming things into your ears or blowing your nose really hard can DEFINITELY damage your ears and eustachian tubes. Your best bet for nose-blowing is to be very gentle -- that way your ears/tubes will be safe. As for ridding yourself of the congestion, you can try sudafed, if that is a drug you can tolerate. Otherwise, just keep hydrated and wait -- I know that sounds dumb, but that's all you can REALLY do for a cold. It's viral and will run its course, ears and all. Feel better!
