Blood Sugar levels?!

Question: how come I can test in the 220 range all day, but when I wake up in the morning, I'm close to 300? I don't eat anything when I sleep. what gives? my husband questions if the med that I'm on is working. (this is something I''ve been working on lowering for about a month)

Morning levels can be higher because you are producing glucose while you sleep. It can also be a reaction to an overnight low.

Sounds like you my have a diabetes problem or your liver is not functionly properly

Ya..similar things happen with me. Sometimes it doesn't matter _what_ I eat, the BC level is down around 100 and that includes sugary items with _real_ sugar in them.
Other times I don't eat at all and the fasting BC level is over 250.
It makes me wonder if there is any correlation at all between foods and the meter readings.

Call your doctor!

Hon, you have absolutely no control if you are testing 220 all day and 300 over night!!!

If you are on Metformin/Glucophage, it takes about a month for it to work the way it is supposed to. It is a systemic drug and has to build up in the system.

Have you gone to the low carb food plans? If you are still eating grains, cereals, corn, peas, carrots, dried beans, and potatoes along with soft sweet fruits, you are not working hard enough to get any control whatsoever!!

Suggest you go find book called "Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year" and read it. Another good book is "Atkins Diabetes Revolution".

I test foods: at snack time prepare some food and test your glucose, eat the food example banana, and test your glucose 90 minutes to 2 hours after the first test. Decide if you want to keep the food in your food plan or delete it. If it raises glucose number more than 50 you might not want to keep it.

The 300 fasting number is caused by the liver deciding that you are starving and dumping stored glucose on the system. I have this problem worse than you. I can maintain a near 100 all day and it jumps toward 250 by wakeup time!! Not fun at all. Then in a couple of hours it will be back down toward 125!! Always gives me such a bad headache.

Good luck and keep journaling every part of your day! It helps to see trends in your treatment program.
