Am I going to get AIDS?!

Question: I made out with a guy twice and I am not sure of his HIV status. I've read conflicting reports on the web concerning HIV risk from kissing. Am I at risk of acquiring HIV from this activity?

you can get HIV by other ways but not really by kissing. its like a good 99% chance that you wont get anything. i would be worried if i shared a needle with that person or had intercourse without protection. always be careful, and you'll be alright. take care

Chances are greater if you have unprotected sex than kissing but if you french kiss then you're exchanging bodily fluids.

No, you won't get AIDS from that...but, eventually you are going to want more than just a kiss.

Its the cornholeing without condoms that causes that disease.

The possible ways of getting HIV:

-Vaginal sex
-Anal sex
-Oral sex
-Sharing needles when shooting drugs
-Home tattooing and body piercing
-Accidental needle sticks
-Blood transfusions
-Childbirth
-Breast Feeding

It is NOT transmitted:
-Saliva/tears/sweating/urine, etc
-Hugging
-KISSING <--- there is your answer
-Massage
-Shaking hands
-Insect Bites
-Living with someone who has HIV/AIDS
-Sharing showers or toilets with someone who has HIV/AIDS

I hope that helps.

you cannot get aids from kissing an infected person.

studies have shown that you would have to drink a pint of this persons solivar to catch aids i know this sounds stupid but its true.

if i was you i would practice contraception.

Usually not from kissing. It is usually not transferred through saliva as well as through other means. You cannot go to Yahoo answers and expect to find out if you have AIDS or not. You have to go to a doctor and get tested in order to know this. If you do have HIV/AIDS then you have a big problem, so you need to take this very seriously.

My question for you is why you would even run the risk of the infection by making out with someone who is HIV positive? You need to go to Planned Parenthood and get tested. Also, they will supply you with plenty of information on HIV. AIDS and other STDs. It sounds like if it is not AIDS that you may get, it may be something else like Herpes or other. It is a shame that you may have to learn the hard way. Even if an STD is curable, it has to be caught in time, and it takes time to get cured. In the mean time, it is very uncomfortable and can be painful. Do you want to have to go through that? If it is not curable, then you have to go through life in shame and pain.

Take care of yourself and stop being foolish.

Abstinence is the best way to avoid contracting any kind of STD.

I learned that you can only get HIV when you have a blood contact with an infected person or have intercourse. You cannot conclude that by kissing a guy with it could affect you unless you have a cut or sore where the fluid or the blood touched. See your Doctor for a test. All the best.

No you can not get HIV from kissing. You need to have unprotected sex to get HIV, IF he is HIV+. If you don't know his status, use condoms and ask-

You can have a very rewarding relationship with someone who is HIV+ as long as you take the necessary precautions.

Technically, yes you are at risk. But only if you had open sores in your mouth and he had bleeding gums, or vice versa. In other words, you had exchanged blood, albeit orally.

So unless one of you is a vampire, the practical answer is no. It is impossible to acquire HIV from kissing. Saliva, while a bodily fluid, contains natural protease inhibitors - one of the chemical compounds in the HIV medication ********* - so you can swap spit all night long and not worry. Isn't mother nature clever?

Now having jism injected into you through one of your naturally occuring orafices is another story. While quite beautiful, this would be risky behavior.
