Will i be able to take a shower?!
Question: I had laproscopic gallbladder surgery last monday and had my staples out this morning at about 8:45. i am trying school tomorrow and really want to take a shower before i go. i got the little white strips over the incisions and the doctor said 24 hours, then i could take a shower. i will not be able to take the shower any later than 7 in the morning. will i be able to shower at that time?

Absolutely ! The area where the steri strips are should be patted dry, not rubbed. In time, these strips will loosen on their own. It is OK to cut any loose edges prior to the strips becoming completely loose on their own. Be sure to check the site for any signs of increased redness, swelling, or any drainage ( oozing fluid) and, any odor. These may be signs of an infection. Sometimes, the steri strips will not completely loosen on their own so, if the site looks good, there is no sign of an infection and, the strips are just hanging on, then it would be ok to remove them. I have had patients' leave on the strips for weeks ( longer than the necessary time frame) because they were afraid to remove any remainders of the strips by themselves. Leaving the strips in place for too long is not ideal. Once the steri strips have been loosened or removed, be aware to check for any signs of an infection. After showering, pat the area dry vs. rubbing until the area is completely healed. Contact your Doc should any problems develop. I hope that this is helpful.

well, if the doctor told you not to take a shower, i would advise you not to as well. and just go to school late! (even though i dont understand why you want to go to school anyways) :|
yes you can get a plastic bag or something and olace it over the strips and tape it take a shower than remove it when you get out of the shower
