Why do some Diabetics eat alot of sugar?!

Question: Different reasons for different diabetics...

Type one diabetics MUST have sugar when their blood sugar gets low. Same for any type 2 or gestational diabetics if they're on insulin or a pill that could make their blood sugar low.

A diabetic with high blood sugars will crave sugary / high carb foods, so they can end up in a vicious cycle - eat more, get higher, get hungrier, eat more... etc.

For some, it's simply because it's not good for them and they crave it. Like the answer above - it's similar to smoking / drinking - carbs can be addictive!

Please note that diabetics CAN eat sugar! For ease of balancing their blood sugars they need to be careful and keep it balanced or match it with insulin.

Diabetes is about carbs, and sugar is just one form of carb. So bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, and sweet foods are all bad in large doses - but fine in small doses or when matched with insulin.

Some of the diabetics are ignorant of the fact that sugar/ sudary items will cause more diabetes complications not at the time of eating but at the later stages and then they will have no way to reverse the complications.

Diabetics should avoid sugar/sugary foods, exercise a lot , change their eating habits, change their living style to live a healthy life just as non diabetics.

For the same reason some people smoke, and some heart patients eat fatty diets and some fat people continue to eat too much. Lack of self-control, denial, thinking the "rules" don't apply to them, laziness, waiting until "tomorrow" to do things right, ignorance of the physiology behind their disease.

If you're asking why do they seem to crave sugar, I don't think that's the case. Sometimes if people take too much insulin they may feel exceptionally hungry and shaky if their blood sugar goes to low, then they need a quick sugary fix.

cus its good
