Generic drugs are not always as effective as the brand names. Some patients with a history of good results on brand name antibiotics began experiencing difficulties when a generic was substituted. Sometimes a physician will state (no substitutions) for this reason. Check with your pharmacist, they can tell you when to use brand name/generics.
As chemical compound is the same no matter what you call it. Most drug manufacturers make both the generic and name brand drug...so what is the difference? The shape and the color. Using the generic brand doesn't same some money...it is a substantial savings and the main ingredient in the drug has to be the same.
