Is there any way to cure IBS?!

Question: No, there is no cure, but there are a lot of things you can do to help treat it and prevent spasms etc...lay off caffiene, salads can sometimes cause issues, fatty foods are bad as well as dairy products (sometimes they can cause spasms) ... also destressing is a great way to help...you should try yoga or keep a journal. Also, Psyllium (sp?) pills can help. Take care and good luck!

I have IBS, and I was told that there is no cure, but there are things that you can do to curb the effects of it. For me, I have found that my IBS flares up when I am stressed or nervous. Some things that I have been told to try to help it include the following: 1. Use a food diary. (keep track of what you eat and when you have symptoms, then avoid foods that consistently cause issues.) 2. visit a gastroenterologist and have tests performed. (he/she can prescribe medication that will reduce the effects. I personally take Colestid for IBS.) 3. Try to reduce stress from your life. (identify what stresses you and try to figure out how to remove those stresses from your life.)

good luck.

There are so many new treatments, we've come a long
way in the past twenty years. Amitiza is a RX prescription
drug that helps with constipation caused by IBS. There
are also several antispasmodics, such as Bentyl and
Librax. These tend to slow the motility of the bowel, so
I wouldn't suggest them. Many doctors approve of low
dosage Zoloft (50mg daily) as it is shown that seratonin
levels affect the brain and involuntary responses.
Diet and stress reduction are important. During a flare-up
avoid consuming dairy products and wear clothing that
is not constraining. Walking also helps.

Long nites of drinking dont seem to work
