Go to urgent care or wait to go to doctor's office?!

Question: I think I may have developed an allergic reaction to band-aids (latex rubber). A rash started only in the area where the band-aid was affixed and has now spread to surrounding areas (even after discontinuing use). The itchy rash is the only symptom I have. I am not short of breath or faint or anything like that. I don't have a fever. My doctor can't get me in until tomorrow afternoon. Do you think it's okay to wait until then or should I go straight to an urgent care facility instead?

I'm not really asking for you guys to tell me what to do, I guess I'm just asking what YOU would do in this situation.

Hiya

I would wait until tomorrow, I would only go to a doctor if my breathing changed and or suffered from Anaphylaxis, so in my case I would go today.

But be careful though, because Latex allergies mean other allergies in most cases. Not sure if that makes sense. But basically different things relate to food.

So if you have an allergy to latex, you would more than likely have an allergy to banana's because latex gloves contain a protein which is also in banana's, so you would risk having a cross reaction. Other fruits that I know have the same protein are kiwi, chestnut and walnut.

Does that make sense? lol

Hope so.

i would wait until tomorrow, unless it starts spreading more rapidly.

I agree Unless the rash spreads fast it sounds like it can wait

I'd wait. As long as its not oozing with nasty liquid its ok to wait.

As long as you're not in considerable discomfort, I would say it would be okay to wait until tomorrow.

go to your doctor it will be cheaper than waiting in urgent care, and if you want to try and wait it out use cortozone cream on it. that stuff is normally used for rashes and will help with the itchyness.

i hope you feel better

As long as you feel fine otherwise, wait for your doctor. Have you tried swabbing the area with an alcohol swab to get all the residual glue off? That might help if you have an allergy. I am allergic to the adhesive in some bandaids and when I get a reaction I clean the area off to make sure all the adhesive is gone and the rash goes away in a few days.

I would just wait till my doctor could get me in. You aren't having any serious symptoms. I would apply a little hydrocortisone ointment to the rash and not worry about it.

i suggest go to the er.. if your short breathing..cuz it affects your heart also.................SO GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

I would wait....I get the same thing with band aides. You may want to try using a little benedryl creme on the area or hydocortisone creme on the area...it may help with the irritation and you may not even have to go to the doctor tomorrow.
That's what I would do. :)
