My daughter was diagnosed with strep throat yesterday. Belly ache, vomiting and headache are some of the signs and symptoms of strep. You will not know if you have strep unless you get your throat swabbed at your doctors office and until you get swabbed you will never know. Strep will not go away with any home remedies, you will need an antibiotic to kill it. Strep is a bacterial infection that is highly contageous. Good Luck!

You really should go, they can give you antibiotics, otherwise it will get worse and you could get a really bad infection.
I would suggest going to a doctor because strep throat can on occasion lead to rheumatic fever, an autoimmune disease that can damage your heart and cause problems for life. Best to get it treated with antibiotics ASAP.

I had chronic strep when I was 16 and had a tonsillectomy...now I'm 21 and getting them again. Strep is highly contagious and you can get it from anything. The only way to treat the infection is by a 10 day dose of either penicillin or amoxicillin. It is important to go immediately not only to help yourself but to help prevent others from getting it as well.
As for it costing an arm and a leg, look into a secondary (assuming you already have medical) insurance provided by the state you live in. State insurance (e.g. Washington State) will cover most if not all expenses incurred. It is worth looking into!
For temporary relief try gargling some warm salt water, get some Cepracol lozenges, and try some herbal tea and honey. It will help sooth the pain a little bit, but it will not treat the strep!
