What are the chances I am infected?!

Question: During my brief entry into the dating world, I met a very nice guy, who I ended up kissing on several occasions. Not to sound like an incredibly homophobic person, but I can't help but be alarmed and concerned over this activity and the potential risk of acquiring HIV (though my partner assures me he does not have the disease and has been regularly tested).

Now, I have educated myself extensively on this disease and rationally know that kissing is considered a "non risk" behavior by most and a "minimal risk" behavior by conservative leaning groups such as the CDC. However, I am so consumed with fear that I have exposed myself to and acquired HIV that I am having a very difficult time coping and am experiencing intense anxiety.

Would you consider kissing to be a "risky" behavior or that my concern is at all warranted. Any insight or advice you could offer on the subject would be greatly appreciated and certainly helpful.

in order to contract HIV from someone by kissing (which is pretty much impossible) but the only way that it is even slightly possible is by somehow getting like 2 gallons of this persons saliva into your body- which i dont see that happening so stop freaking out, your fine

There has only been one reported case of transmission through kissing ever.
Sure you'll be fine.

Have a look on the Avert website.

....just to add : What that person has said about the amount of saliva mattering, that's completely untrue.
It would only be possible for the infection to pass through kissing if both people had cuts or a bleed within the mouth at the time.

your risk is EXTREMELY low. More likely to get struck by lightning or other 'one in a million' type odds.
