Help with acne?!

Question: Back in high school i had trouble with acne on my face. Over the past few years it had cleared up with different medications and such. For about the past year up until a few months ago my face was clear other than a pop up zit here and there. About 6 months ago i decided to start going from clean shaving my face regularly to trimming my facial hair for the scruffy look. About 2 months or so into this new look my acne started coming back. Now, 4 months or so later i am treating my face again but it still isn't close to as clear as it once was. Do you think its the fact that i'm not clean shaving that is making my acne come back or something else? I have not really changed much in my life that would be stressing me out or anything. What should i do?

This could be pure coincidence with not shaving, although oils from your skin could tend to build up beneath the hair on your face, and become trapped, causing the pores within your skin to clog and become infected.

I recommend to start washing your beard. (yes washing it) and removing a lot of oils from it before shaving it off.

If you do not plan on shaving it off, try to wash your facial hair during the day and remove any access oils from it.

If you have a job, and you work constantly and build up heat, remember the facial hair will keep heat inside it and potentially hurt your pores.

but like i said, just try to keep it a clean place. and keep the hair short, so its easier to clean.

maybe try going back to clean shaving and see if it clears if not you could try other products. A dermatologist would probably help out too.

Effective Treatment for Acne Scars - USING MEDICATIONS AND CREAMS

There are a number of medications; creams and acne blemish treatments that can be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars. When choosing an acne scar treatment, you need to consider the severity of your acne scars, the type of acne scars you have and the type of skin you have. It is best to talk to a pharmacist or beautician who can advise you on the best type of treatment for your acne scars and skin.

Mild scars can often be successfully treated with bleaching creams that are bought over the counter. It will usually take six weeks before there is any improvement. If these creams do not work, doctors can prescribe stronger creams, which are used in conjunction with retinoid creams. The retinoid creams will also help prevent acne.

For more severe acne or acne that does not respond to usual treatments or creams, further treatment at the doctor or the dermatologist may be needed. During your visit to the doctor or dermatologist, tell him of the acne scar treatments you have tried and the results of those treatments. Based on the type and severity of the acne, the doctor or dermatologist may suggest one of the following options:

a) Laser resurfacing (or laser blemish removal) may be used to treat serious acne scars. The treatment is completed by the doctor or dermatologist, in his surgery. The laser removes the top layer of skin (including the damage caused by the acne), leaving the skin smooth. The procedure can be completed within a few minutes, but some treatments will take up to an hour. After the treatment, it will take up to ten days for the skin to completely heal.

b) Dermal-abrasion is the use of a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument to remove the surface of the skin. A new layer of skin comes up to replace the surface of the skin that has been worn down. Healing for dermal abrasion may take anywhere between ten days and three weeks.

c) A micro dermal abrasion is a mild chemical peel which can help improve the appearance of acne scars. This form of acne scar treatment is usually used when the acne is not very severe.

d) Punch graft is a method used to remove pitted scars. Small portions of skin are taken from soft tissue parts of your body (like the ear lobe) and implanted where there are acne scars in the form of holes.

e) Collagen may be injection below the skin to help replace pores and cells. Steroids may also be injected.

All of these methods need to be tried out after the acne has been healed. The doctor will need to check whether you have any conditions that have caused the acne breakout or acne scars.

The Best Method for Acne Scar Treatment
There is no one method that is the best when it comes to acne treatment. It all depends on each individual case. Many people may be able to treat their acne successfully with natural acne treatments. Others may need special creams purchased from the pharmacist, or may even need to undergo laser blemish removal at a doctor's office. If you feel that your acne scars are very severe, consult a doctor first to see what he recommends. If your acne scars are not so severe, try treating them first with a natural or medicated acne scar treatment.

Good Luck
