When we read a TB skin test we look for an area of enduration. In plain English this means we are looking for an area that is both hard and raised. It should be at least 5mm by 5mm. Typically there is accompanying erythema or redness. The bruise just means one of two things, first that the person who placed the test had a heavy hand or second you bruise easily or both. Don't freak out, look at the area 48-72 hours after the injection was done. Only if the test is positive, (raised and hard) can you freak out and then only after a positive chest x-ray. Because a positive skin test only proves that you have been exposed to TB and that your body has started to develop antibodies to it. Not that you have it. For that to be absolutely positive you need to have a Quantiferon Gold assay test done. This is a blood test and is the gold standard for TB tests. Good luck and don't worry.

nah dont worry! its fine, mine had a red spot for like a week after it and then it bruised a little bit . its fine!

Nothing serious, it will go away.

red means nothing, when they "read" the test they are looking and feeling for a bump or raised area
