Well, you really can't avoid it if it is in your family in some cases, for example my dad has high blood pressure and takes medicine for that. There is a greater chance I will have it rather than someone whose dad doesn't have high blood pressure.

Then you have to avoid salty or fatty foods, especially those made with partially hydrogenated oils and of course TRANS FAT. lol I had to bold that because that is a huge issue, yet many people still eat it.

Exercise regularly, especially cardiac or aerobic exercises.

And of course, do not stress out over "spilled milk."

the best way is to run long distance, and don't eat salt/sodium type foods. don't add salt to your foods, and don't drink a lot. Running long distance helps because it gets your body to beat stronger and longer, rather then faster and a little bit at a time.

if your family have history of high blood pressure then you will probably get it. we can avoid it by modifying our lifestyle such us avoid stress or fatigued, eat healthy-avoid oily and salty and fatty food as much as possible, get exercise because it makes heart stronger, drink lots of water.

There are many factors that would cause this
Anything from working out (even basic walking helps), not smoking, to cutting back on your salt/caffeine intake.
