I would try taking some 'cold fx' pills- they actually work!! My cold went away within 2 days- also make sure you are up on your vitamins (especially C & D). If you sleep more, your body will repair itself more quickly, and using a humidifier usually helps with symptoms (allowing you to breathe better). A sauna is somewhat like a humidifier (moist air), so it should also help your symptoms, it likely won't make the cold go away any faster- but will alleviate pressure on your sinuses. Hope you get better soon!!

I found the best way to get rid of a cold is to use the zicam q- tip things you swave it up ur nose and in like a few hours you good to go.

Saunas do help,so does massive amounts of orange juice. There is something that can get rid of your cold in about 5 minutes flat, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to take it.

This works for me every time no matter what type of cold I have. I just put it in a sprite or mix it with water and start to feel better that day/evening.
(Vitamin C)

I drink airborne if i feel a cold coming on. It boosts your immune system.

I also use vicks rub to help clear me up.

A hot shower is better than a sauna because you are not becoming dehydrated in the process. If you can a hold of some liquid echinachea and put a couple of droppers full into a glass of orange juice, it will work wonders. I have also heard good things about Zicam. When I had a bad cold I used the liquid echinachea remedy twice in one hour and with in 1.5 hours I felt like a million bucks. I don't know why it worked but it did.

Take vitamin C and zinc. Get a lot of good rest. Don't over exert yourself or your body will have a hard time getting back to a healthy state.

a cold is a viral infection there is no quick cure it has to run its course the best you can do is treat the symptoms look on the internet for home remedy sometimes works better than modern day over the counter medication

uncle henry's cold stopper...at the health food store, all natural essential oils ...works for me,and several friends that have tried it

You can't get rid of it. It has to run it's course. But zinc has been shown to help with symptoms. And there's always good old vitamin C. You can also take Claratin which is available over the counter. Yeah, i know, it's an allergy medicine. But it helps with cold symptoms too.

steam helps so yeah sauna might! try get as much rest as possible, drink lots of water, take multi vitamins and uhmm.. take care

Yes, a sauna will do you the world of good ......... all that delicious steamy air to loosen congestion and clear your sinuses?

You need to bolster your immune system sweetie..........

Go get some eucalyptus oil from the chemist and put a few drops of it into a warm bathtub at nighttime before going to bed and soak luxuriously for 15 - 20 minutes ............. this will do a great job of loosening congestion in the chest and releasing mucuous build up. A eucalyptus oil bath will also ease the pains of sore and achy muscles.

Here's just a few good old fashioned common sense things that you can do to build up your immunity. Go get a powdered form of ascorbid acid (vitamin C) with bioflavonoids from either the health food store or chemist. The bioflavonoids will increase the effectiveness of vitamin C 10 fold. Have 3,000 - 4,000mg (3 - 4 teaspoons) daily mixed with water until the cold subsides then maintain your immunity with 1 teaspoon daily.

Most health food stores also sell a product called Zinc Fix which combines the power of vitamin C with Zinc in a powdered form. The Zinc bolsters the effects of vitamin C and this is my powder of choice for a cold or sore throat.

Drink vitamin C rich rosehips tea as this is the richest known source of vitamin C. (the organic loose leaf variety - it may be a bit more expensive but as it is organic you can generally reuse the spent leaves a couple of times as the essential oils are so potent).

Increase your intake of vitamin C rich foods on a dialy basis to prevent any further infection and to reduce the amount of time you are sick...... ie: citrus fruits, berries, leafy and green vegies, tomatoes and red and green peppers.

Loads of freshly squeezed juices are good too.

Ensure you are drinking plenty of pure filtered water to flush the germies out of your body .......... and keep you well hydrated ....... avoid sugar as it will create a feeding ground for bacteria ~ virus, and also avoid caffeine containing beverages such as coffee, tea, soda and soft drinks, as these will only serve to dehydrate you and rob your body of essential B & C vitamins.

Ensure you are drinking or eating something with Beta - carotene in it daily to heal quicker and in future to prevent further colds, as Vitamin A will aid in the proper function of the immune system, shorten the duration of illnesses and generally bolster the health of the mucosal lining of your ear nose and throat ie: carrott juice, pumpkin soups, eggs.

Take a good quality multi B complex supplement on a daily basis both now while you are sick and for future prevention methods. The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy immune, digestive and neural functioning and will help your body deal with the extra stress of being ill.

Things such as caffeine, sodas and soft drinks, antidepressants, antibiotics, diuretics, laxatives and aspirin and most otc cold medicines and alcohol will also do a great job of robbing you of your precious B vitamins.

Nettle tea bought in the loose organic form from the health food store and brewed for 20 minutes, will help to heal and soothe a sore throat ........... the taste of nettle tea is quite bland and ordinary so perhaps spice it up with some honey or lemon juice.

Also, a good vapour inhalant when you have a cold is to put a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil into a salad bowl of hot water and .......... being carefull not to get so close as to burn your face ......... place a towel over your head and inhale the vapours. This will do a great job of clearing your sinuses, help in reducing any temperature you may have and to loosen and remove mucous.

?Caution: Avoid using eucalyptus oil if you have high blood pressure or suffer from epilepsy ~ if either is the case simply substitue for Tea Tree oil ~ both of which are very powerfull antiseptic and antibacterial oils?

Get some fresh air into the house during the day for a couple of hours ........... open your bedroom window and say the lounge room window to ventilate and freshen the air.

Put a capfull of eucalyptus oil into a spray bottle of warm water, shake vigourously before using and spray door knobs and kitchen, bathroom, bedroom surfaces in an attempt to torch those nasty cold and flu germs ............ naturally, if you are going to do this with the toilet (including doors and handles) i suggest you use a different sponge?

Good luck & health & vitality to you & yours?

Fortunately with medical science today there is hope. Get Airborne at Walmart ($5) and take it 4 times a day with about 4 ounces of water. Be consistent. Take it until the tube is gone. In the meantime you need to be taking these supplements on a daily basis to boost your immune system.

CoQ10 (at the .99 cent store) anywhere else it's $20-$30 a month
B-Complex
Vitamin C 2000 mg daily
Echinacea 1 daily
A good multi-vitamin
Omega 3
Folic Acid 400 mg daily

You will feel so much better taking these supplements. They will keep your immune system fine tuned for anything that comes along. Our food supply is so depleted of vitamins now, that everyone needs to be taking daily supplements to meet the requirements our bodies need to stay healthy.

PS Sauna's only help by providing moisture to the airways to aid in the elimination of mucous by coughing. Drinking lots of water to keep yourself hydrated also helps.

Take care my friend.
