26 days with low grade fever, any suggestions?!

Question: the doctor has thrown in the towel. and refered me to a different doctor. All of my blood work is normal, except that I tested possitive for lyme disease. But my doc says once the blood was sent to be confirmed I only tested positive in 2 of the 3 sections of the test. She said that since I dont have the rash and I dont recall being bitten by a tick then I dont have it. A CT scan revealed a lesion on my liver that she called suspicious but nothing that would have anything to do with the fever. And several Nodules on my thyroid, again she says nothing to bother with. I have had a blood culture and it was negative. Believe me when I say that I have had probably every test in the world done. ANY help, or anyone that knows a good doctor to see in new jersey would be great.

I wouldn't rule out Lyme disease yet. Unfortunately, the lab tests for Lyme are not definitive either way. (There exists no way to prove you DON'T have Lyme). 50% of people who have Lyme never got the bull's-eye rash--and many don't recall a tick bite. (Ticks are tiny and their bite doesn't hurt, so it's easy to miss.)

I recommend you go to http:www.lymenet.org, click "flash discussions" and then click on "medical questions." You'll be able to post your question and have it read by thousands of people who have walked a similar road in trying to figure out what's causing mysterious symptoms. You'll also be able to get recommendations for docs in your area. Good luck.

Good sources of info about Lyme disease:

What is your temperature? Low grade does not give enough info.

I would see an internist about the lesion on your liver, did she test you for hepatitis?

When all other tests have been normal, I think the lesion on liver and thyroid should not be ignored. It seems you don't have any other symptoms apart from fever.
Empirical treatment with broad spectrum antibiotics (if already not tried) and Thyroid function tests will be helpful in my opinion.
All the best!
