Are there any ways of slowing down neuropathy once you get it, besides blood sug!

Question: Obviously, better control of blood sugar levels helps more than anything.

I'm just curious if anyone is doing anything in terms of exercises and physical therapy to control what has already started.

I'm not too bad right now, but I do have numbness in different spots of my body periodically. Every year gets a little worse.

Yes, other treatments can help manage the deterioration of the nerves and, yes, physical therapy and exercise help. They improve circulation to the extremities which will keep the tissue healthier. Blood sugar control is the number one thing you can do to help yourself, though. Consult a good endocrinologist - he or she can put you on track to stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Additionally, there is a new(ish) medication available with prescription which is helping a great many people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Again, your doctor is the one to ask for help developing a global treatment plan which would include pain management, optimum diet and glucose control and exercise.

Good luck
