Lupus has so many symptoms and it can mimic other diseases because of that. Look up Sjogren's Syndrome. It has many of the same symptoms as Lupus. It can involve the central nervous system, heart, skin, digestive track, joints, body temperature, swelling eyelids, fatigue, nausea, of course dryness of the eyes and mouth and tons more. As far as knowing if you could have Lupus, well, it's possible, but no one knows your symptoms. However, if you have lots of the signs of Lupus, it would be possible that you have some type of autoimmune disease. Get your blood tested for ANA antibodies. This would be a sign for an autoimmune disease. Best Wishes!

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic, multisystem, inflammatory disorder of probable autoimmune etiology, occurring predominantly in young women. Common manifestations include arthralgias and arthritis; malar and other skin rashes; pleuritis or pericarditis; renal or CNS involvement; and hematologic cytopenia. Diagnosis requires clinical and serologic criteria. Treatment of severe ongoing active disease requires corticosteroids, often hydroxychloroquine, and sometimes immunosuppressants.

Lupus causes a variety of symptoms such as joint pains, rash, fever, fatigue etc. These symptoms are nonspecific and can be due to many other conditions. If your symptoms match several of those that make the criteria for lupus then you should consult a doctor and see if they agree and you can then be referred to a rheumatologist.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease. Many organs and systems are affected which causes the variety of symptoms.
