What is this black dot?!

Question: My fiance has a (somewhat blueish) black dot on his chest, near his neck. It is hard and although it is at the same level as the regular skin, it does seem to be somewhat separate from it. It seems like the normal skin is tightly around it, but there does not seem to be a smooth transition between it and the normal skin like there is between the skin of your nose and the skin of your cheek. He's had it as long as he can remember but I've never seen anything like it. What could this be?

It sounds like a sebaceous cyst, this is a place that looks like a black head, which it really is,,, but it has been there so long it has changed into a cyst. Which there is stuff inside this cyst that looks like a black head. If it don't bother him , I would leave it alone. If it get infected he will have to have it removed with surgery;.

mole or that thing you get from frogs.. uhhmm i think its called
"warts"

I would see a dermatologist if you're worried about it. Esp don't listen to the person that says that warts are from frogs that's not true at all.

It sounds like a mole . . .

But I'm not a doctor, so best to get it checked out by a professional!!

Defiantly see a dermatologist they can cut it off which they did with me for a couple of moles that concerned. they Numb it in case he is concerned of pain. They do a biopsy I think it's called and can tell you if it's be nine or not meaning not cancerous. In the mean time keep at least sunblock uv30 or higher nothing lower on it and keep and eye on it especially if it has changed shape size and color. keeping it out of direct sun light is a big deal if it is changing color size and shape watch if it become real dark which is of great concern. Also check the family history for skin cancer.

It does sound more like a blackhead than a mole or a wart. It could also be some sort of cyst. If indeed it is a sebaceous cyst, which I don't believe it to be, and it has not changed in appearance, grown or painful, I would not worry overly-much about it. If it has changed in appearance, causing him pain, or has grown larger, then I would say he should see a doctor.
A sebaceous cyst is usually a lump-like knot 'under' the skin and is filled with 'cottage cheese-like' substance. I have had a sebaceous cyst on the back of my arm for over 30 yrs. and it does not come anywhere near resembling what you have described. A sebaceous cyst is not harmful as some other cysts can be.
If either of you are concerned to the point of worrying then I say get it checked by a doctor.

I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over weight and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there if you are looking.
Still as of today I have what i consider to look like an ingrown black head on my left shoulder blade. I noticed it when these wierd boil things started happening to me , and Like i said I still have it... so since in showed up in the beginning for me so it may be an indicator... its worth looking up.. dontcha think??
