If you truly have influenza you could have taken one of the prescription antivirals but they need to be taken within the first 48 hours. Otherwise get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and eat lightly. Take OTC pain relievers, cough drops and other cold meds to make yourself comfortable but they won't make you better any faster. Viruses have to run their course, when I had influenza I was sick for a week and run down and weak for another two weeks. Plus I got a sinus infection and ear infection on top of it. Really sucks!! Get a flu shot, I'm a firm believer in them, I haven't gotten the flu since I started getting a shot and I work in a hospital so I'm exposed to it a lot!

Drink lot's of water to flush the virus out, that's what my doc told me to do. Get lot's of rest. Drink some o.j

Take flu medicine, drink lots and lots of water and have lots and lots of rest.

Remember to cover yourself up too.

A nice long hot bath will also helps.

p.s Hope you have a speedy recovery

All you can do is take it a day at a time and let it run its course. It sounds like you're doing the right things but unfortunately, you'll get over it when you get over it.

I am in bed right now with a nasty case of the flu as well. I would suggest taking advantage of the weekend to recouperate. If you're in the tail-end of your flu you might spread it to others - the flu can be lethal to those who are immunocompromised and/or are quite young/old. Even if you're feeling well enough to hit the mall, etc... I'd recommend you don't as the flu is easily spread and other individuals might find themselves quite ill if they catch what you have.

If you feel you must go out in public you should take certain precautions to protect others: Cough into tissue, not your hand; use hand sanitizer to avoid spreading the bug, have your friends open doors for you, and cough away from people while covering your mouth.

Hope you're feeling better soon!
