Congratulations on your pregnancy.
A loving mother and home life, are two things that all babies and children need and deserve. You should not be ashamed, embarrassed or ridiculed for you decision to have another baby. I hope this one doesn't suffer the same condition, as it may be too difficult for you to manage two of them. Treat them evenly, with no favouritism.
Good luck.

I think some people worry that you may not have enough time for your daughter with CP if you have another child. They may also think that you are just having another child so that you can have one who is not disabled - as though your daughter is not good enough.

But the truth is that it is a very positive thing for any child to have a brother or sister. If anything, I think it is the able-bodied child's needs that can sometimes get forgotten as they are busy helping their brother/sister. Really it's the same whether you have able-bodied or disabled children - each child needs their own quality time with their parent, to play games with their parent and have one-to-one time. And each has different needs so it's just about meeting the individual needs of each child, whatever they may be.

Don't worry about what people think. Once you have had your second child, I'm sure they will see differently.

well i am not trying to be mean but i am not the number fan of cp,,,its different if it happens after the child is born but to know when you are pg cause they can tell early enough now its just wrong to bring them into the world knowing this that they will never lead a normal life and the torture they will go threw,,,for your people telling you things tell them not to talk about it around you or to you,,,and depending on how far you are along if your not happy with pg and you have been tested there are other options but i hope and pray you find Peace and make a wise decision good luck,,

Cerebral palsy is caused from an injury to the brain, from infection (like meningitis), bleeding into the brain or damaged from lack of oxygen at birth. Many people don't understand that a brain injury caused during delivery in many cases could have been prevented. Medical mistakes are responsible for thousands and thousands of cerebral palsy cases...it is not genetic or a birth defect, there is a very slim chance your second child will have cp...so don't be nervous or afraid, it should be a happy time, if people only had more knowledge about cp they would be happy instead of having a bad attitude toward the arrival of your new baby.
Congrats!

My brother-in-law had CP and I can remember the remarks and cruel things said when we took him places. I just got to the point where I would just ignore the remarks. Be happy about the new baby and surround yourself by people that will love you and love your children.
