Wisdom Teeth recovery and cold/flu?!

Question: I got my wisdom teeth taken out 8 days ago. The healing has been fine and everything and I've been cleaning the holes and using salt water.

They still ache like a B**** sometimes especially my right side (which the surgeon told me was going to be troublesome) and sometimes feel really sore and irritated. Is it normal for the sites to still ache this much later?

Also, I was very concerned yesterday when I suddenly came down with a fever or fever like symptoms. I had smoked with friends a couple days ago and one got sick later and said she might have the flu. Well, yesterday around 6 (earlier I had felt a "cold" coming on like coughing, stuffy nose, etc.) then my forehead and body started to get pretty warm and I had chills.

Could the fever be related to my wisdom teeth? Or could it be a cold? I rested all night and now today I feel somewhat better and the fever is gone, but I'm still coughing, sore throat, nasal congestion.

Since you have had an uneventful recovery (except for continued discomfort), I would guess that you have picked up a virus (cold) germ. Treat the cough with cough med, the fever with tylenol or ibuprofen on a regular basis, increase your water intake, rest as much as possible and run a humidifier in the bedroom where you sleep. Back to the teeth, continued, regular pain medication (either tylenol or ibuprofen) will get you through this discomfort until you are completely healed. Several weeks of nagging aching is not unusual if there was any problems getting any of the teeth out.

i would call your dentist. You could have dry socket syndrome, which causes fever. I had each side removed at different times and they did not stay taht tender that long.
