Tanning has two very DRASTIC side effects, but you may not be aware that tanning AGES you faster than being 'naturally pale skinned' (not exposed to the sun without sunscreen) ... and you should NEVER tan, in a tanning bed or in the sun ... you should never go outside without a 50spf sun screen on your exposed parts ... and that INCLUDES under your clothes, since many clothes are NOT good 'sunscreens' ... did you know that you can actually get SUNBURN if you don't wear the proper fabrics, and that the danger is getting MUCH WORSE because of the 'hole' in the ozone layer that lets the 'bad rays' through much stronger these days than when I was a child. I know ... I've had malignant melanoma TWICE ... I do have a 'genetic factor' that gave me a much higher CHANCE of getting it, but I got it both times because I was 'overexposed' to the sun ... so don't 'tan' and think you will look 'prettier' ... because skin cancer gives you SCARS ... and I have a scar that 'scares people pale' and I thank God for that, so YOU don't have to!

Use a bronzer, instead. Not only will it be cheaper, it won't cause skin cancer.
Everyone is different in the amount of UVA/UVB their skin can tolerate.
If you want the gory truth, Google Images will show you a few pictures of malignant melanoma. That should convince you, and pronto.
Have a full-body exam by a dermatologist.

I am one of the people that years later after getting gorgeous tans developed skin cancer due in my case to exposure and damage of sunning. Tanning salons are no better they are just as dangerous. Now I avoid the sun like the plague.
