Tazorac..?!

Question: so I just started using this stuff called Tazorac and well it's only been a week since I started using it, so my skin look ridiculous right now. I need some supreme moisturizure thats water based adn won't clog pores. any suggestions?

and anyone that has used this stuff:
1. will my skin stay this dry for the whole 12 weeks ??
2. anything to help the burning?
3. did it seem to rid all your skin probs, including lessening the appearance of scarring? or are scars still prevalent?

Tazorac is really a great product for those with acne and oily skin. I use it, and it does take about one month to two for your skin to become accustomed to the medication. After the 2nd month, you should really begin seeing *much* clearer skin. If your skin is burning a lot, you might need to back down on how frequently you apply it, to perhaps once every other night. (You should only be applying it once per day, at night, before bedtime.)

You should also be applying a moisturizer to your face *before* you put on the Tazorac. My personal recommendation is actually to use a pain-relieving antibiotic cream (like Neosporin) -- not the ointment -- on your face for this first month or so. This will also help treat the initial breakout you experience, and the pain-reliever in the antibiotic cream will help with the burning.

Then, you can use Neutrogena's Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. (This is a recommendation from a dermatologist.) It's soothing, inexpensive, non-oily, and it lasts forever! It's not necessary to use an expensive facial moisturizer; they can be a waste of money and have the same ingredients (or even unnecessary ones that just burn your senstive skin). Also, as a face wash, you can just use a baby wash. *Nothing* is more gentle, and it won't burn your skin at all.

Tazorac is a drying medication (as are all retinoids), so use a moisturizer if necessary. Over time, the Tazorac will help a little with improving the appearance of scars (because it causes cellular turnover). However, it really depends on how extensive your scars are. Eventually, once your skin is your clear, if you have deep scars, you may require some laser treatments, dermabrasion, or chemical peels to remove serious scars.

Be patient, use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, and your skin will settle down and improve significantly by the spring time!
