Do you or anyone you know have Tourettes Syndrome?!

Question: if so what are the symptoms?

Answers: if so what are the symptoms?

The sufferer may have 'ticks' or small muscular jerks which may look like he's "nodding sharply". There will be short explosive "oofs" accompanying the nods.
The sufferer will tend towards outbursts of irrational behaviour and foul language.

Between these outbursts the ticks and 'oofs' can just about be bearable by people nearby for short periods.
Sadly, they do get exteremely irritating after a while and it's almost impossible to work in proximity to a sufferer.

However hard you try and understand the condition and be sympathetic too it, the distraction is physically impossible to work alongside for anything other than short spells.

The symptoms are uncontrollable tics. Sometimes they are physical sometimes verbal, or just noises. The stereotypical image of a Tourettes sufferer is someone who shouts swearwords uncontrollably, but that's not always how it is.
There's a pretty good write up in Wikipedia:

No. I know that symptoms of Tourettes syndrome come in different forms. Some types are quick sudden uncontrollable physical movements that are fast and jerky and some people swear uncontrollably and some symptoms are shouting nonsense uncontrollably. Media stereotypes show people with tourettes as swearing uncontrollably but the reality is different. Some people swear and shout nonsense uncontrollably. It can wear off and become less frequent.

No.. now F*** off.. Get it? Only kidding!!
Some symptoms can be uncontrollable swearing....

I thought my 8yr old had it as he developed tics last year. I went to a specialist and he said he thought my son would be OK as it's very common for young boys to have tics and he should grow out of them.A year later and he seems fine.I think tourettes is usually accompanied by some other behavioural problems.
