When is the best time to do a chemical peel?!

Question: My acne calmed down a lot recently and I have some acne marks left over from it. I want to do a peel so that I can reduce the look of the scars and smoothen my skin again, but I still have some red marks and scabs formed from acne. Also, I've heard that peel can only be done during winter times or at least most effective in the winter. When should I get a chemical peel?

Once the scabs are gone, you can do a chemical peel or laser peel -- be sure to price around so that you get the best deal. There are many types of peels and many types of laser treatments. Don't just jump at the first one offered -- be sure to get a dermatologist's opinion and not just one offered by a tech at a spa. Otherwise, you won't get the results you want, and they will do whatever you're willing to pay for. You don't have to wait until the redness is gone, but you can't have any open sores or scabs.

You can get a peel anytime; some people recommend the winter because people spend less time in the sun then, and you cannot spend time in the sun after a peel. The skin is too sensitive and will burn severely after a peel until it heels. Other than that, there is really no reason to have it a specific time. They will always recommend that you use sunscreen after.

Depending on the type of scars you have (if you have deep, pitted, ice-pick scars), these can respond best to injectable fillers and not peels. ArteFill is the best filler since it can provide permanent results. If the scars are widespread over your face, though, injection fillers may not be the best option -- but you can combine these with a peel (not at the same time) for optimal results for some cases. Every person is different.

well the reason they say its best during winter is because its cold. you can get a peel in the summer, but be super careful if you do cause your pores will be bigger. if you choose to do it during the summer, wash your face with cold water twice a day.
