I don't know why someone who places an online ad would have a greater chance of having an STD that anyone else. You can get an STD from someone you met at school, from someone you met at a party, from a coworker, etc.
With anyone you date, be sure to talk with them about STD's before you have sex. Explain that you have been tested for the biggies (AIDS, HPV, etc) - you have, haven't you? And that you don't have an STD, or that you do have an STD. And wear a condom.
When I was dating frequently, placing online ads, I was very aware of STD's, the risks associated with them, and how to protect myself and my partner. What I worry about is folks who date only "clean good people" and don't think about STD's.

It is russian roulette, you don't know who the people are and i doubt you are bringing a copy of your sexual history/medical history.

I would hope that you would be using protection with any casual encounter whether from craigs list or from anywhere else!
I wouldn't do it in a million years...yes it is like playing russian roulette with STD's however people are obviously still out there doing it.
