Did I screw up big time?!

Question: Here is the deal, I made out (kissing only) with a guy of unknown HIV status on two occasions. During this time, I never tasted any blood, though his lips got a bit dry and a little white, dry skin was present.

My question is: did I expose myself to HIV and if so what amount of time must I wait before being accurately tested for the virus?

Please help; I can't eat, sleep, or think about anything else!

Are you kidding? Even if this man does have HIV... You don't get HIV from kissing.

But if you incist... it takes a while for HIV to show up on tests. I've heard 6 months. So, when August rolls around, if it will make you feel better, go on in and get tested. :)

duh

Well, if his status was unknown, then there is no way of knowing if you were exposed to HIV. Furthermore, you should go have a HIV test in about a month. It can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks for HIV to show up in a test (this is called sero-converting.) Ora-quik tests take like 20 minutes, and I know that you can get them at most health centers on college campuses nation wide. For what it's worth, you'd have to swallow a liter of spit to ingest any sizable amount of blood.

if he had no cuts or no blood in the mouth i dout u hav exposed urself to HIV to get a accurate test id wait bout a day or 2, all though the incubation time for HIV (incubation been from first contrated the virus to full development) is 10 years, symptoms may appear in 1-4 weeks and include swelling of the lymph nodes, fever, headaches, loss of appetite, sweating and sore throat often mistaken for flu or a hangover

Kissing someone with HIV puts you in a MINISCULE possibility of contraction. There would have to be so many things working against you. There would have to be DIRECT contact with their blood with an open sore in yours. I mean think about, it there are HIV+ people married to uninfected people and they maintain their negative status and live a normal married life.

Also on the topic of getting tested: 6 months is the time to wait after a possible chance of infection (not in ur case, ur fine!) it takes that long for the HIV antibodies to have built up in your system. A person could go earlier but run a good risk of the test not being able to pick up on the antibodies. There fore giving a possible false negative.

Also The other answers are a little misleading. Not to be rude but they are very misinformed in the ways of HIV. I have done alot of research on HIV and written papers on it and even plan to go to Africa to do work with it, so i wouldnt subscibe to what the others wrote. sorry!

haha ur GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

im kidding. i dont care about other peoples sexuality..

get tested. NOWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
