I just got put on oxygen for COPD, what stage am I in and what is life expectanc!

Question: You should discuss this with your doctor.

Ask if you will be on oxygen for a limited period, or if she/he thinks you will need it most or all of the time.

How well you do will also depend on many other things, for example any other health problems.

When you talk to your doctor, ask about future options for your COPD. If you do not get adequate answers, find another doctor!

People can live years and years on oxygen. Your life expectancy will depend on how well you comply with your doctors recommendations, take your medications as directed, do not smoke and avoid smoke-filled environments, get some mild exercise each day and schedule periods of rest.

Hard to say what stage of COPD your in with the information you typed out. But with the use of oxygen I'd say your in a moderate stage. Just use the oxygen with care and don't go over 2-3liters/minute or else you might stop breathing because your peripheral system will shut down.
