Colon cancer in a 16 year old?!

Question: hey all. I'm 16 years old and last november I noticed some blood in my stool. I thought it was just a fissure, so I increased my fiber and it went away. lately I've been having soem lower right abdominal pains. They are dull, and sometimes I can just ignore them. I poop probably 6 times a week and it is usually consistent as in I usually don't have diarrhea or constipation.

thanks

just get urself checked out. i don't want to scare or worry you but it can affect you at any age, not just when you're older. i'm 20 and was diagnosed a few months ago, and was told that for mine to have reached the stage it had, it had to have been there for at least 5 years. instead of worrying just go and see a doctor so you can put ur mind at ease.

It seems like internal bleeding. Maybe in your stomach or intestines. You do need to make an appt asap with your doc cause that is not normal. I work in an oncology office and have never heard of colon cancer at 16. But it's not something to play with so get checked. Good luck.

you could have an ulcer. Is it bright read blood in the stool or dark in color? I would go to the doctor and get it checked. Colon cancer in a 16 year old is very vey uncommon, you are not supposed to start screening for this until age 50. I am sure that you are ok, u just want to rule out anything else. Good Luck.

not likely. if you have blood in the stool regularly, go to the doctor and ask what's up. abdominal pains like what you describe can be so many things, most of them digestive.

highly unlikely.. don't worry about it. it could be lifestyle or diet related or perhaps some other medical condition or infection. see your doctor if it continues.

im not completly sure, it oculd be just some kind of internal bleeding. my brother had cancer though and he was 11 so it's completly possible for you to get it.
