Usually it's a urine test to see if someone has used illegal drugs. You give the screener a little cup of pee, they send it to a lab and see if any of the byproducts of drugs are present in it. Usually it's done before employment, but some schools do them as part of athletics. People who are on probation or other court supervision often have to do them as well.

basically you give some urine and it is dropped into a test kit and it shows any drugs in your system and it can also be done by blood work
