My son has a bad fever?!

Question: He's up to 101 degrees now. I decided to give him a few extra servings of cold medicine and having him lay in a cold bath while I'm here. Is there anything else I can do? BTW, he's 2

AAguy, you should put salt ice on him. I hear it can cause freeze burn so it should be good for cooling him down.

You can alternate giving him Tylenol and Motrin, but he may end up needing an antibiotic since fever is usually a sign of infection. If he continues to run a temp you'll have to see the Doctor.

Piggy back tylenol and motrin. Tylenol is every 4-6 hours and motrin is every 6-8 hours. Give them both and it will break his fever. If the cold medicine has either of these in it then wait until it is time for the next dose then give. You dont want to overdose the kid. Oh and dont bundle him up and push a lot of fluid

It is very dangerous to give more than one dose of meds. It can make them really sick or over dosed!
At 2 yrs old, he can have either IB or Tylenol.

You never, ever put someone in a "cold bath." A cold bath can put him into shock~!!!
You put them in a "tepid bath." (warm) Although, it will feel cold to them because they have a fever.

Dont use a cold bath. I was always told to use a luke warm temp. This way they wont scream and want to get out right away.

First, I would be careful about giving him extra doses of cold medicine...And you can take a damp wash cloth with rubbing alcohol & wipe him with it. Don't submerge him in a bath.

Do you have any pediolyte? You can have him drink that if he'll have it. 101* is not that high for a baby.

you can also call the covering pediatrician.

Hope he feels better soon.

wat

you left him in the bath while you got on the computer? you're being a neglectful parent.
