My child suddenly stopped eating almost anything, what could be the cause?!

Question: My child is 15 months old and was eating fine everyday, broccolli, rice, shredded chicken, miso soup, noodles, fruits, etc... Now he got strep throat, and is getting over it with some antibiotics but won't eat any normal food, he will eat crackers (like he always does) between meal times but that's all. We tried cutting the crackers out but then he doesn't eat anything. Is this normal or is there something i could do to help eat? And if that wasn't enough he wants to be held at all times and we have to be standing up or he explodes in a desperate cry. Should I be worried? He is currently on Pseudoephedrine and Amoxicillin for his Strep

Sometimes the medication or the illness can make everything taste bad. See if he will eat something like Cheerios. I'd let him eat the crackers and see that he has plenty of fluids. It just might be that his throat hurts.

He feels just terrible and can't explain it to you. Just hold him.
He may be experiencing a side effect of the medication. Anxiety is one of the rare side effects of pseudoephedrine.

The medicine he is on could be bringing on those symptoms
of no apetite. You should call your doctor and get his professional advice then roll into action. This child is going to
lose his vitamin defiency if you put this off any longer. You might have spoiled him by holding him when he was so sick.
A doctor can clear this thing right up and get this child back
on t he road to recovery. I trust you will take the necessary
action to get to the bottom of the baby 's apetite.!!!

I'm not a professional, just a mom who has done a fair amount of research to help my own child.
Antibiotics are helpful when needed however they create a whole new batch of problems. You're child could be reacting to the negative results of the antibiotics, especially if this is not the first time he has taken them. You should see a naturopath, they could address any issues. I can tell you, if this is an issue, you need to take care of it.

the food probably hurt his throat and now he associates eating with pain. Gradually reintroduce low acidic smooth foods...maybe start with yogurt and gradually add others.

If he is still on the medication he may still be having some pain, etc but you should talk with the doctor to make sure he isn't experiencing side effects or adverse reaction to the medication.
