No, not a crime, just poor form. If it were HIV, it would be. Syphilis is easily curable in the early stages with a single injection of antibiotics. If he got treated, then re-infected and went into the latent phase he would not have known he was infected again.
Your friend needs to kick this guy to the curb and not sleep with him anymore, or make her men start wearing condoms when she has sex! p.s. but a condom does not guarantee that syph. won't be transmitted, as it only requires skin to skin contact with a syphilis sore.

If she won't stop sleeping with this guy they need to be treated at the same time. If she gets it again from him, then she can safely assume that he is not monogamous and she needs to get tested for things other than syphilis. (think HPV, HIV, herpes, etc.)

yes it is. Endangering a persons life

no lol

It most definately is. I'd get my friends to go visit him and teach him a lesson. Then tell the cops. It is a very serious crime to pass on STDs Look at AIDS

it is illegal for the clinic to tell anyone of his status, but they can call her and tell her to get tested just because.

at least it aint the herps.

yes it is. this needs to be reported

your friend should report it to the police, especially if he knew he was infected and intentionally tried to spread the disease; however that is very hard to prove and its up to your state attorney to go through with any type of criminal prosecution.

yes it is. if he knew he had it and he passed it to her it is a crime.
