Why do I always wake up with a sore throat in the morning?!

Question: What can I do about it?

Answers: What can I do about it?

It could be because of your acidic stomach. Do you sleep upright or flat on your back? The acid could be coming back up and burning your throat. I have 3 kids with acidic stomachs and I have raised the head of their beds and they are doing better.

Are you a smoker? Or eat spicy foods before bed ?

I would look toward snoring as a possible cause.

Maybe you are breathing through your mouth instead of your nose. That can be a cause.

You may very well be snoring or just sleeping with your mouth open. That can give you a sore throat. Try not to sleep on your back. If you like sleeping on your back prop yourself up with extra pillow so your head is not low and flat.

nasal congestion. You are probably mouth breathing while you sleep which dries out the throat and makes it sore in the morning. Try using breath right strips or taking an antihistimine before bed and see if it helps, and talk to your doctor.

You may have sleep apnea and are gasping for breath at night. If you sleep with another person, ask him or her if you sometimes stop breathing. Are you tired during the day? It is common in people who are overweight and can be fatal if not treated as it increases the risk for a heart attack.
