Red bumps on scalp-horribly painful?!

Question: Does anyone know what these are? Does anyone know what I can do or what wash will keep them away. I had a dermatologist do a culture on one and there was no bacterial formation.

Yes, like the previous answerer stated, it is in all likelihood follicullitis (which is usually caused by staph bacteria, but in many cases is caused by a fungal infection and not a bacterial infection).

Whatever the case, try a 3% salicylic acid shampoo, like Neutrogena's T-Sal Shampoo (or a generic equivalent) for a week. After the first week, the problem should be under control. To keep it under control, you can also use the first shampoo mentioned, followed by a different shampoo, like one of the Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment Shampoos (whichever one is appropriate for your scalp/hair type). Beginning the 2nd week, alternate between using each every few days, and the problem should stay under control.

its a bug bite put ice on it and it will go away

I also have red bumps when i use a shampoo that have strong component on it. Try baby shampoo or a kind of shampoo that have a mild component on it. Try also apply to your scalp an aloe Vera extract, massage it to your scalp, it will help your scalp healthy and away from red bumps.

my friend, you have ingrown hairs. just try to pull the hair out of the bump if you can and brush with the hair not against it and you should be fine.and wash with milder shampoo. when shopping for shampoo or sumthing read it and look to see if it is for sensitive scalp and buy it. if you use it, it should never happen again. if it does, just go with baby shampoo instead.

It could very well be Folliculitis. You can google it a little more, but here's one website that may help.
