Osteoarthritis is caused by the normal wear and tear on a joint over time. Therefore it effects more older adults than younger. It is also caused by a trauma to a joint. Any joint injury can lead to arthritis in that joint. Just because you have a joint injury does not mean that you will get arthritis in that joint.

This trauma can be because of an injury cased by an accident or can be injury caused by repetitive motion.
