Can you get pimples on your lips?!

Question: Okay, right now I have this huge pimple like bump between my nose and lips (closer to nose). It hurts when touched. It's turning white in the middle. Can I put acne medication on this(i have acne and i take acne medication).

Also, I sometimes have pimple-like tiny bumps on right on TOP of my lip(like you know how the upper lip has a dip in it? well it comes right above the dip) and it's smaller, but hurts too. I am not sexually active so how could it be a cold sore? And it's not several, just one bump.

IS ALL OF THIS NORMAL??? Is this just acne!?!

Yes, blind pimples are like the huge pimple you describe. My daughter gets them a lot, as did I when I was young. Yes you can put acne medication of this.

And yes, the pimples you describe on your lip sound like just that - pimples or blind pimples. You can also put your acne medication on that.

Try to make sure you clean your skin regularly with a good astringent that suits your skin type. You will know which one is good, not by the price, but because of the feel and affect it has on your skin. My daughter went through several before she found one most suited to her skin and it certainly wasn't one of the dearer ones.

If it were a cold sore, the initial feeling you would have had would be a very strong tingling under the skin. This then goes onto to develop tiny blisters which you can see if you look very closely. These blisters then break open and scab over.

Cold sores are not caused by sexual activity, although they are commonly placed there because of the relationship of the virus. Cold sores are most commonly picked up by either kissing someone with one, or drinking from a cup they have used. It is believed that over 90% or so of the population have the Herpes Virus I (cold sores only), however many have a strong immunity and the symptoms rarely, if ever, affect them.

If you learn this is a cold sore, you can get medication over the counter from the chemist/pharmacist. Zovirax is probably the most common one used, however the pharmacists can often provide you with a cheaper one with exactly the same ingredient. The ingredient is 'Aciclovir'. The best time to use this is when you feel the tingling as that will stop it developing, but if you don't use it then still get it and use it as soon as you can, as it will assist with quicker healing. This cream penetrates into the nerve and goes back to the base of the nerve to kill the outbreak off. The cold sore is only a symptom of something deeper under the surface.

Hope this helps.
It does not sound like you have cold sores.

You don't have to be sexually active to get a cold sore, they are highly contagious so 90% of the population has cold sores.
There are two types of herpes one that causes cold sores and the other one that causes warts below the belt.

It does sound like it is a cold sore though abbreve helps with those and the one above your lip does sound like a pimple

you don't have to be sexually active to have a cold sore.

it's normal, don't worry about it, just leave it alone.

yes you can
