During an xray for gerd - water was found?!!?!
Question: I went for an xray to see if i have gerd. while looking at the xrat the docotr kept asking if had drank ( iwas supposed to have fasted) - I kept saying no - and he asked again - are you sure? What does it mean if water was seen in my stumoch?

Hello AJ. Based on the radiologists description of "Hypersecretion in stomach", it sounds to me like they found exactly what they were looking for in investigating the possibility of GERD - stomach acid. A major problem in GERD is hypersecretion of stomach acid. I think that is what your doctor was seeing when he repeatedly asked you about whether you had anything to drink. There is no way for him to identify water from stomach acid without taking a sample and performing a direct examination of the substance. Good luck with your treatment.
Probably he found the size & contents of the stomach larger than normal. It should be the duty of the doctor who advised the investigation to explain this. Probably gastric emptying is delayed due to gastric outlet narrowing.
