My fiance broke out with genital herpes?!

Question: He told me that 8 years ago his girlfriend at the time had herpes, she was married for over 20 years but contracted it when she was 15. Its been 8 years later and he has had no signs or symptoms until yesterday...can this be? Is 8 years too long to go without signs or symptoms and now I have it too right?

Some times you can go for years with no symptoms and also sometimes the symptoms are soooo minor you don't realize that it is a symptom. A break out can be nothing more than a slight itch or minor burning. It is often mistaken for a yeast infection or simple jock itch or not even really noticed at all. My doctor swore all I had was a yeast infection.

You really do need to get a blood test to know if you have the virus or not. There are very specific test available now that can tell you if you have type one or two. It can not tell you the location of the virus but type one is usually of the mouth and type two is usually genital. Even if you were having protected sex there is no 100% safe sex when it comes to this virus.

You can have a breakout anywhere from the top of your legs to your abdomen/upper buttocks. And it can be spread from skin to skin contact from this skin as well...basically anywhere that a pair of boxer shorts covers whether you are having a breakout or not.

The herpes virus can be transmitted when an area of skin that is shedding the active virus comes into contact with uninfected skin in the genital, anal or mouth areas of another individual. This means direct oral-oral, genital-genital, oral-genital, genital-anal or oral-anal contact

I agree there is no reason for you to begin medication if you are in a monogamous relationship AND have been tested as positive but are not having outbreaks...but if you test negative your fianc
