I also had endometriosis for several years until my hysterectomy. I now have Fibromyalgia and arthritis and several other auto-immune disorders. Although the exact cause of endometriosis is not known, some studies hint that it is a result of an altered immune response in women whereby the immune system fails to recognise and destroy the abnormal growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. This suggests that your immune system might have something to do with it. I wonder how many other women who suffer from auto-immune disorders also suffered from endometriosis. Keep in mind that most auto-immune disorders are the result of your immune system acting in an over-vigilant manner, attacking parts of your body instead of protecting them. It misreads its cues.

i dont think so........i have endo......although i am 30 yrs old & have had it for 16 yrs with 5 surgeries..........my ex mother in law has fibromalygia & doesnt have anything else.

I had Adenmyosis, a cousin of Endo. Was cured with a hysterectomy. I also have an Autoimm. disorder: I.T.P.= my body is producing not 1 but 2 antibodies that are attacking my blood platelets thus less clotting factor. A normal platelet count is around 300 thousand, me as low as 21 thousand. I also am a "D.E.S. Daughter" ( a drug administered during high risk pregnancies in the late 1950's-early 60's. Female offspring have high rates of "female problems", ovarian, cervical, uterine, fallopian cancers, failure to conceive or carry full term. Resulted in a class action law suit about 8 years ago. Now as time passes, doctors are finding "D.E.S. Grand daughters) Food for thought.
