We're overdue for the next pandemic. It comes roughly every 15 years and the last one was in the late 60s, early 70s.
We dont know if the current H5N1 strain will go into full fledged pandemic or not, it could be a completely different strain. At any rate, it's coming and it'll probably hit when we dont expect it!
