It's not about the food so much. You have to count carbs. Try calorieking.com - Don't go over 50 - 70 carbs per meal. Some fruit can really raise your glucose levels.

Read this link and others like it. Educate yourself.

getting a dietician to help manage your diet would be helpful as they can calculate how many calories you specifically need. Go to the american diatetic association for more info.
Eat right, exercise, get plenty of rest and drink water daily. GO healthy! :)

Follow the food pyramid guidelines.

All things in moderation.
Not all fruits & veggies are bad and you do need them in your diet.
Potatoes/pasta/breads - you need to keep to a minimum.
Portion size is also important.

Eat several smaller meals/snacks throughout the day and don't forget to drink enough water!

Go see a diabetc educator and dietician.

The basis of a diet for diabetic people is moderation, and not exceeding the amount of carbohydrates you can eat at each meal/snack. You don't have to cut out any food, just learn what a real portion size is, and how many grams of carbs, protein, nutrients, etc, are in that serving.

Like I said before, become educated. Visit an Endocrinologist, dietician and diabetic educator. I have been diabetic my whole life, and without these resources, I wouldn't be as healthy as I am today.

Watch your simple carbs--bread, rice, etc. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and had to count carbs and eat a certain amount every few hours to help keep my blood sugar stable.

Have you ever heard of pre-pregnant? Either you're diabetic or you're not. If you have to watch your carbohydrate consumption it's a fair guess that you are diabetic.
Watching what you eat, exercising, and getting to and maintaining a healthy weight will help keep the condition from deteriorating.
YOU are the master of your own future.
