Answers: my friend told me that after youve had the vaccine that you cant have sex for 6 monthes, is that true?

the vax is for HPV which causes the majority of cervical cancer, so while the vax is not a cancer vax per se, in reality it is a vax to help prevent cancer.

The vax is given in 3 parts over a 6 mth period. Until you are fully vaccinated you can still get HPV. So your friend is partially correct. If you have unprotected sex during the 6 mths of vaccination you can still get HPV, the only way to make sure that you don't is to abstain from sex during the 6 mth vax period.

go here for good info: http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/STDFact-HPV-v...

well if thats the case im definetely screwed.

no this is not true, you can have sex after you get the vaccine. it is very expensive tho, like $300 a shot and it is a series of three shots over a period of 6 months, so maybe that is where she got the 6 month thing from.

Well, at least you know better than to just accept your friend's
advice. There is no vaccine for cervical cancer. If sex is comfortable, go ahead. But that is still a question you ask your doctor, not put up to a public notice board.
