Should I call our family doctor???!

Question: My 21 month old daughter has a bad cough, congestion, and now a fever. Her heart is racing. I watched the clock and in one minute her pulse was 170ish. I'm terrified, but don't know if I'm overreacting. Do I call the doctor or go to the ER? Should I be concerned or is this probably just the flu? Any help is much appreciated....

this is a high pulse rate for a baby normal restng rate for her is 80-130 max, she is in tachycardia, this is not safe IMMEDIATELY
call your doctor and let her/him know you are going to the ER, a fever and a high pulse rate accompanied by congestion and cough is not good for your daughter.

take her to the ER. it might be nothing, but it will give you peace of mind. kids are always getting sick. my 22 month old daughter has been to the dr/er i don't know HOW many times. better safe than sorry. hope she feels better!

trust your instincts...but DON"T overreact......how is her behaviour? is she acting herself or is she weak??.....a fever is GOOD that means her body is fighting it.....don't do anything to make it go down its is a good thing.....things always get better by morning......don't rush her to the er or ped. if intervention isn't needed they will only make it worse if its not needed. wait it out.....and RELAX

I would call the pediatrician and see what they recommend. That's what I usually do. They get paid big bucks to answer after hours calls.

I would carry her to the E R as quick as I could get her there, that pulse is way too high. It may be something besides the Flu. Hope she gets better soon.

take your child to the er ASAP! this is cause for alarm.
